New Canaan Fourth Grade Black Downs Fairfield
The New Canaan fourth grade Black football team defeated Fairfield 26-7 in Fairfield County Football League action.
New Canaan opened the scoring on a 18-yard touchdown run by quarterback Luke Morton. After defensive end Nick Brown stopped Fairfield at its 24-yard line, the Black increased its lead on Morton's 60-yard TD strike to tight end Gus Larson. Morton ran in for the extra point, giving New Canaan a 13-0 lead.
Brandon Sechan then tossed a 60-yard TD strike to Larson before Fairfield closed within 20-7 at the half.
With less than three minutes remaining, Morton returned an interception for a touchdown to complete the scoring. Zach LaPolice capped the day with an interception on the game's final play.
New Canaan Pride third grade soccer
The New Canaan third grade Pride team soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision to the Darien Blues.
New Canaan's front line of Jack O’Donnell, Will Cosco and Jack Harrison barreled through the Darien lines and kept the ball in Darien territory for most of the first half.
New Canaan scored its goal after Christian Wolter threw a sideline ball to Jack Harrison, who headed it to Cosco. The latter than scored with a kick to the top left corner of the net.
Later, Peter Miller dribbled upfield and passed to Nicholas Lambrinos, whose kick on goal was stopped by the Darien goalkeeper.
Harrison, Ford Beck, Wolter and Will Bozzella played strong defense in the second half and worked together to keep the Blues out of New Canaan territory.
Andrew Jones was in goal for New Canaan in the first half and blanked Darien. Beckett Walters took over in net in the second half and allowed only two goals on 10 attempts.
