New Canaan tandem of quarterback Matt Milano and receiver Patrick Newton are this week's male winners of the BlueStreak-Overtime FCIAC Player of the Week award.

Milano completed 21-of-25 passes for 340 yards and six touchdowns in Saturday's 43-14 victory over St. Joseph to become the school's all-time leader in career TD passes. Newtown had eight receptions, including five TDs, for 196 yards.

New Canaan's Max Pacioretty has suffered a setback in his return to the NHL.

The Montreal Canadiens'  left wing will be sidelined indefinitely after suffering ligament damage to his wrist in Monday's 2-1 loss to the Florida Panthers.

According to TSN.ca, Pacioretty won't need surgery but no timeline has been determined for his return.

The injury means that the 22-year-old Pacioretty, who has two goals and four assists in eight games this season, will not play in the Canadiens' home-and-home series against the Boston Bruins on Thursday and Saturday.

It would have been Pacioretty's first appearance against the defending Stanley Cup champions since he suffered a severe concussion and fractured vertebra on a hit from Bruins' defenseman Zdeno Chara in Montreal on March 8.

At 1-5-2, the Canadiens are off to their worst start in 70 years.

The New Canaan boys soccer team looks to clinch an FCIAC playoff spot when it hosts Fairfield Ludlowe in its regular-season finale on Wednesday ( 7 p.m.)

Two spots are still up for grabs as Norwalk, Darien, Trumbull,Staples, Greenwich and Wilton have locked up berths.

New Canaan (7-3-5, 26 points) is locked in a three-way battle with Westhill (8-5-2, 26 points) and Danbury (6-2-7, 25 points) for the final two spots.

Westhill hosts Fairfield Warde on Wednesday at (4 .m.) and Danbury visits Bassick (4 p.m.).

If Danbury beats Bassick ( 4-7-3) as it should, New Canaan and Westhill will need wins to get the last two spots.
