New Canaan Seeks Input On Updating Plan Of Conservation & Development

NEW CANAAN, CT — New Canaan is seeking input from residents to contribute to the town's Plan of Conservation and Development (POCD) update, according to a post on Facebook.

The POCD was last updated in 2014, and the state requires each municipality to update its POCD every 10 years.

A POCD establishes a vision and objectives that address housing, economic development, parks and open space, historical and natural resources, and sustainability, among other topics.

To that end, the town has released a survey for residents that covers these topics and seeks to better understand how the community feels about the town, its current state and where it should be heading in the future.

The survey has 23 main questions about New Canaan and up to 13 optional questions about the survey taker.

About 20-25 minutes should be set aside to complete the survey. The town said individual answers and personal demographic information collected from the survey will not be accessible to the public.

There will be a future engagement opportunity for the public regarding the POCD on Oct. 26.
