In a game dominated by offensive action, the U10 Black triumphed against a formidable Greenwich Chelsea team. Goals were scored by Cooper Jessop (2), Jeronimo Marsili, Lorenzo Marsili and Ryland Strine.
The Black was off to another fast start Cooper Jessop scoring the first goal in the 6th minute. However, both teams were well matched and control over the ball moved back and forth between the two. In the 10th minute, Jeronimo Marsili battled and won control over Greenwich to take it down the middle for a goal. Lorenzo Marsili followed in the 25th minute to add another goal after a throw in off the right side of the Greenwich goal. In the melee of players, he came out with the ball and quickly capitalized to score in close range.
The Greenwich offense came out fighting in the second half. The Black countered each play with strong physical defense and footwork to throw off the opponent. Jessop was able to break through and rushed the goal from midfield to score for his second time in the game. As Greenwich pressed New Canaan in their own end, keeper Nolan Charlton saved multiple attempts. He displayed a season’s best performance jumping high to save a Greenwich penalty kick. With the heat and humidity bearing down, the Black sealed the game with Jessop passing to Ryland Strine high into the corner of the net.
