Jake Granito scored two goals Friday as the boys hockey team posted a 4-1 victory over Trumbull at the Darien Ice Rink.

Harry Stanton and Puck Richardson also tallied for the Rams, who improved to 10-6-1 overall and 6-3 in the FCIAC.

A.J. DiMasi had the lone goal for Trumbull, which dropped to 10-7.

New Canaan took a 2-1 lead after two periods, then put away the contest with a pair of goals in the final period.

Matt Paolini made 33 saves for the Eagles while Chris Koennecke stopped 15 shots for the Rams.

New Canaan is tied with Trinity Catholic for sixth place in the FCIAC standings with 12 points. Under the FCIAC's new postseason format, the top six teams make the tier one playoffs.

The New Canaan girls basketball team begins the final week of the regular season on Monday when the Rams host Westhill (7 p.m.).

New Canaan (10-8, 8-8)  is tied for 11th in the FCIAC standings, two games behind Fairfield Warde and Stamford.
