For the second time in a week, the boys hockey team enjoyed a laugher at Wilton's expense.

Dylan Hart scored a hat trick Saturday as the Rams routed the Warriors 9-2 in the first round of the FCIAC's tier one playoffs at the Terry Conners Rink in Stamford.

Puck Richardson added two goals for New Canaan (13-7-1), which clinched a tier one playoff berth with a 7-1 win over Wilton on Monday.

Brock Anderson, Spencer Manchuck, Chip Glover and Ritchie Shane also had goals for New Canaan on Saturday. The Rams came out fired up, erupting for five goals in the first period to build a 5-0 lead.

The win sets up a semifinal meeting against Darien, which had a bye in the first round, on Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Terry Conners.

Wilton pulled within 6-2 after the second period, but New Canaan put away the easy win with three more goals in the final period. Jake Granito chipped in with four assists for the Rams.

Cole Rance and Alexander Pagliaro scored for Wilton, which dropped to 10-11.

Nicholas Wells made 25 saves for Wilton while Chris Koennecke stopped 16 shots for New Canaan, which finished with a 34-16 edge in shots.
