The New Canaan youth wrestling team sent two wrestlers to the USA Wrestling CT Kids state championship on Sunday.
Tyler Sung, age 10, wrestled as a first year in the 70-pound novice division and made it to the finals, taking second place after dropping a 3-2 decision.
Nine-year-old Justin Mastroianni wrestled as a second year in the 60-pound intermediate division and took home trophies for first place and most outstanding wrestler in his division. He was chosen among nearly 150 wrestlers for the latter honor.

Sung and Mastroianni are training partners and have been wrestling for two years. Sung is a senior at the South School while Mastroianni is a junior at West School.

Miofania Garcia scored 23 points as Manchester coasted to an 83-44 victory over in the first round of the class LL girls basketball state tournament on Monday.
Manchester improved to 21-14 and will host No. 11 West Haven in the second round on Thursday while New Canaan concluded the season under .500 at 10-11.
Four players scored in double figures for the winners as Ashley Perez had Megan Cardarelli 11 and Arianna Rivera 10.
Manchester jumped out to a 19-13 lead, then extended its margin to 32-23 at the half.
While New Canaan was still in the game at the intermission, Manchester put away the contest by outscoring the Rams 28-9 in the third period. In the second half, New Canaan was outscored by a 51-21 margin.
Sarah Mannelly scored 20 points and Courtney Rogers added 12 for the Rams, who made the jump out to Class LL this season. Kelly Armstrong chipped in with eight points for New Canaan.

Fresh off its 8-0 victory over Greenwich in the FCIAC championship game, the New Canaan girls hockey team begins its quest for a third consecutive state championship on Tuesday against Guilford 8:15 p.m. at the Terry Conners Rink.
Olivia Hompe scored six goals and added an assist Saturday as the Rams (21-1) won their third consecutive FCIAC title. The seven points give Hompe exactly 100 for the season (69 goals and 31 assists).
Hompe also broke New Canaan graduate's Maggie Westphal's previous state record for career points (263), raising her total to 269 in just three years.
Guilford advanced with a 4-1 first-round victory over Darien on Saturday. Other FCIAC teams in the state tournament include Greenwich and Ridgefield.
