The 34-game winning streak of the girls hockey team ended Monday as the Rams suffered a 4-3 loss to Simsbury at the International Skating Center of Connecticut.
It marked the second time in as many seasons that the Rams (16-1) have lost to the Trojans. Last year, New Canaan dropped a 4-3 decision to Simsbury before winning its next 18 games en route to a 24-1 record and a state championship. New Canaan started this season with 16 consecutive victories.
Simsbury, which improved to 15-3, avenged a 3-1 loss to New Canaan at the Darien Ice Rink on Jan. 11. The Trojans also have beaten FCIAC members Darien, Ridgefield and Wilton this season.

The New Canaan girls basketball looks to snap a four-game losing streak on Tuesday when the Rams host Greenwich at 7 p.m.
The Rams are coming off a 43-23 loss to Stamford in which they trailed 25-2 at halftime. Greenwich (3-13, 3-11) may be the right opponent for New Canaan to face to get back in track although the Cardinals were competitive in a 45-34 loss to defending FCIAC champion Trumbull on Friday.
New Canaan (8-8, 6-8) has slipped to .500. While not mathematically eliminated from the FCIAC's playoff race, the Rams' realistic goal is to try to improve their state tournament seeding over the next two weeks.
Tuesday's contest is the first of three straight home games for New Canaan, which hosts Fairfield Ludlowe and Westhill before closing the regular season at undefeated Danbury.
The New Canaan boys basketball team visits Greenwich (7 p.m.), which has lost three in a row to jeopardize its FCIAC playoff spot.
New Canaan (1-13, 0-12) is coming off an 82-40 drubbing to Stamford while Greenwich (9-5, 7-5) suffered a tough 53-52 defeat at Trumbull on Friday.
