New Canaan, State Differ on Flashing Yellow Light
The light at Gower Road and South Avenue is a point of contention between the town and state.

NEW CANAAN, CT- Town and state officials differ on whether a flashing yellow light at Gower Road and South Avenue is a necessity.
It is the job of the state Department of Transportation to maintain the light on Rt. 124, according to the New Canaanite.
DOT has responded to a number of work orders placed by a resident who doesn't like the light. DOT officials would prefer pedestrian-activated flashing beacons instead of the light.
