New Canaan & State Police Truck Enforcement Catches Violators
An investigation checkpoint was established Wednesday.

NEW CANAAN, CT — More than a half-dozen trucking violators were caught in New Canaan Wednesday after members of the State Police Traffic Unit (Truck Squad) and New Canaan police officers conducted an enforcement detail on New Norwalk and Hoyt Farm roads.
The checkpoint was held between 7 a.m. and noon during which time 41 vehicles were stopped. Of those, six trucks and their drivers "were placed out of service due to failed inspections/violations," according to New Canaan police. Additionally, one vehicle was cited for an overweight load.
"The focus is on commercial vehicles, overweight trucks and other unsafe violations on commercial vehicles," wrote New Canaan police in a statement. "The goal is to ensure compliance with motor vehicle laws and make sure the roads are safe for all motorists and pedestrians."

A total of 21 infractions were issued, while another 23 were cited for various violations for a total of $2,881 in fines, according to New Canaan police. Also a total of seven vehicles were towed due to various reasons.
