New Canaan Teachers Union President Offers Support to New Schools Superintendent
The president of the New Canaan Education Association, the town public schools teachers union, offered "support" for the new superintendent.

An announcement from New Canaan Public Schools:
New Canaan Education Association President Vivian Birdsall met recently with newly appointed schools superintendent Dr. Bryan Luizzi and Board of Education Chairman Hazel Hobbs to offer congratulations and the support of the NCEA.
In October, the Board appointed Dr. Luizzi Superintendent of the New Canaan Public Schools. He had served as Interim Superintendent since July 1, 2014.

Speaking on behalf of the NCEA Ms. Birdsall said, “Bryan has always supported teachers and the NCEA is happy he has become Superintendent of the New Canaan School District.
“Looking into the future, Bryan brings a new perspective to the district. Education has changed dramatically in the past few years and Bryan has an excellent understanding of these changes.

“It is becoming increasingly more difficult to be a teacher due to state mandates and rapidly changing student needs. Bryan is practical, bright, and understands going in that education will be different in the future. We look forward to his leadership.”
