New Canaan Town Council Approves Budget
The budget comes with a small mill rate increase.

NEW CANAAN, CT- The Town Council unanimously approved the $141.1 million town budget Wednesday night.
The budget comes with a 2.09 percent increase from the current budget which includes a 3.66 percent increase for the Board of Education operating budget, according to the New Canaanite.
Much of the Board of Education increase is due to health insurance costs.

The mill rate will increase 2.05 percent to 16.312, according to the New Canaan Advertiser.
Town government departments overall saw budget increases between 1.82 and 4.57 percent, except for Health and Human Services which saw a .38 percent decrease. General government got a 3.92 percent bump and listed other agencies got a .43 percent increase.
