New Canaan Updates Town's 'Whistleblower Policy'
"The purpose of the policy is to provide a safe workplace with high standards of business and personal ethics."
NEW CANAAN, CT — The town has updated its Whistleblower Policy based on recommendations that had been proposed by the New Canaan Board of Ethics. The Board of Selectmen unanimously approved the revised policy for adoption earlier this week.
"Charged with recommending updates to Town policies concerning ethics and employees, the Board of Ethics reviewed the existing policy, researched policies in neighboring towns and made necessary changes," officials stated.
"The purpose of the policy is to provide a safe workplace with high standards of business and personal ethics. The policy encourages Town employees and public officials to report evidence of wrongdoing relating to the official duties or service of another employee, public official or contractor without fear of retaliation."
