New Canaan Woman Arrested On DUI Charge: Police

The incident occurred Thursday evening, Aug. 31.

NEW CANAAN, CT — A 71-year-old New Canaan woman was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence Thursday night after an officer allegedly saw her driving erratically, according to authorities.

Judith Silvestri, of Lakeview Avenue, was pulled over on Old Stamford Road just before 9 p.m. after an officer saw her allegedly cross over the double yellow line and drive northbound in the southbound lane.

"A [motor vehicle stop] was conducted and upon approaching the vehicle and speaking with Silvestri (the operator) the officer detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from her breath," wrote New Canaan police in a statement.

Silvestri allegedly failed Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, according to police, and at police headquarters her blood alcohol content level was measured at .11.

She was additionally charged with failure to drive in a proper lane, and was released after posting a $250 bond. She is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on Sept. 12.
