New Canaan's Macari Nominated For Player Of The Week Award

Senior receiver had three TD receptions for second straight week in 42-20 win over Greenwich

New Canaan's Kevin Macari is one of five players nominated for the Fairfield County Player of the Week Award, which is sponsored by BlueStreak Sports Training and powered by Patch.com and the FCIAC Football Blog.

The senior receiver had three touchdown receptions for the second straight week, helping the Rams (7-1) handle Greenwich, 42-20. He also returned an interception 70 yards for a touchdown.

For the season, Macari has 10 TD receptions, tying him for second in the state.

Replacing the injured Chet Pajolek, the freshman signal-caller guided Staples to a 35-7 win over Wilton. Massie completed 7-of-8 passes for 106 yards and a touchdown and also rushed for 40 yards, including a 21-yard TD.

The senior quarterback passed for 280 yards and four touchdowns, as the Cadets (6-2) defeated Norwalk, 49-20, for their fifth straight victory. Della Vecchia has thrown for nearly 2,000 yards and 22 TD passes this season.

The senior cornerback returned an interception 101 yards for a touchdown in the Eagles' 34-19 win at Ridgefield. He also set up another score with a 37-yard punt return, as Trumbull (7-1) set the stage for this week's showdown against Staples (8-0).

Chris Jerome, McMahon: Senior co-captain led the Senators to a 28-6 road win at Bridgeport Central with 125 rushing yards and three TDs on 12 carries, and had an interception. His touchdown runs were of 10, 88 and 14 yards.
