Norwalk Fire Leads to Multiple Injuries, Disrupts Train Service
New Canaan one of several Fairfield County departments providing assistance.
Several area fire departments responded to a major fire at 45 Wall Street in Norwalk Friday morning that resulted in multiple injuries.
The fire was reported by a police officer at 4:44 a.m. and was declared under control at 8:07 a.m.
The New Canaan Fire Co. dispatched two trucks to Norwalk to serve as backup for city firefighters.

New Canaan received a call at 5:07 requesting a truck to standby at the Broad River station, Fire Chief Jack Hennessey said. A second New Canaan truck was requested shortly after 8:00.
Mutual aid was provided by Westport, Wilton, Stamford and Fairfield.

"We didn't do any firefighting. We were just covering the city for them while they were fighting a fire," Hennessey said. "We had volunteers and off-duty personnel at the building. We were completely staffed here to protect New Canaan."
New Canaan trucks were back in the fire house by 10:30 a.m.
The fire temporarily disrupted service on the Danbury Line trains Friday morning.
