Norwalk Man Accused Of Check Fraud In New Canaan: Cops

The suspect surrendered to New Canaan police on Thursday.

NEW CANAAN, CT — A 23-year-old Norwalk man was arrested on forgery, larceny and conspiracy charges by New Canaan police in connection with an alleged fraudulent check scheme, according to authorities.

Andy Mitchell-Maynard, of Madison Street, turned himself in at New Canaan Police Headquarters on Thursday.

He and two accomplices (whose names are currently being withheld by police) allegedly created counterfeit checks and then used other people's bank accounts to cash the checks.

The case dates back to February when Mitchell-Maynard and the two others "deposited a counterfeit check in the amount of approximately $5000.00 into a bank account." The funds allegedly were withdrew the next day, according to New Canaan police.

Mitchell-Maynard was held in lieu of $5,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court at a later date.
