P&Z Reaches Decision On New Canaan Country School Gym: Report

The private school was seeking to build a new athletic facility at its 70-acre Frogtown Road campus.

NEW CANAAN, CT — A plan to build a new athletic facility at New Canaan Country School's 70-acre Frogtown Road campus received overwhelming approval from the town's Planning and Zoning Commission this week, writes the New Canaan Advertiser.

The facility, which will replace another, smaller gym on campus, measures 144,000 square feet and will be about 44 feet tall. In its approval of the project, the P&Z is requiring the preK-9 private school meet certain conditions, because some in the neighborhood had objected to the building's height among other concerns, according to the publication.

Among the P&Z conditions, designed to address some of those concerns, include when the facility can be in operation, the amount of tree buffering, when and where commercial vehicles can access the building, and other stipulations.
