Package and Mailbox Theft Reported in New Canaan
A piece of mail was stolen while a resident was home and in another case packages were taken.

Police are investigating after packages and mail were stolen during separate incidents.
Sometime between 10:53 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. on Dec. 18 two packages were stolen from a front porch on New Lane, police said. One was valued at $20 and the other $75. The packages were delivered by UPS.

A Sunset Hill Road resident reported that a man stole a letter out of his mailbox on Dec. 14. The resident was home and saw a dark green or black Acura pull up to his mailbox. The operator opened the mailbox and removed a piece of outgoing mail that contained a check.
The resident tried to confront the suspect, but the suspect drove off.

In both cases no suspects were found in the nearby area after a police search.
Both cases are ongoing.
