• April Through October (newcanaansentinel.com) — New Canaan's Beautification League and Garden Club are behind many of the flowers, plantings, and restored landscapes you see around town, from downtown baskets to Irwin and Waveny parks. Their volunteers maintain gardens, traffic triangles, and historic plantings while partnering with the town and local care centers, and both groups welcome residents interested in pitching in or learning more about gardening.
   

• Down River Road Cape Sells for $1.4 Million (newcanaanite.com) — A 1954 four-bedroom Cape at 36 Down River Road in New Canaan has sold for $1.4 million, according to an Aug. 28 property transfer. Several other recent local sales, including Forest Street, Trinity Pass, Logan Road, Danforth Drive, and Long Lots Road, show continued strong prices across town neighborhoods.
   

• What you need to know about the 2026 CIAC girls swimming and diving season (ctpost.com) — New Canaan's girls swim team is again expected to contend in Class L, after finishing second to Ridgefield in each of the past two seasons. With Ridgefield moving up to Class LL, New Canaan now faces Cheshire, Darien, and Wethersfield in a reshaped field, as the CIAC girls swimming and diving season opens September 8 and runs through November championships statewide.
