PD: Car Burglaries Again on the Rise in New Canaan

Police are warning residents that there has been an uptick in car burglaries recently in town after going quiet for about a month.

Police are warning New Canaan residents to be extra vigilant in locking vehicle doors and keeping valuables secured after an uptick in car burglaries.

A High View Terrace resident had three car broken into between Dec. 9 and 10, police said. All the vehicles were unlocked and items were moved around, but it appears nothing was taken.

Police spokesman Lt. Jason Ferraro said that the past month or so has been quiet in terms of car burglaries.

Thieves may be preying on the fact that it’s holiday season and valuables such as gifts may be in vehicles, he said.

As always police remind residents to secure vehicles and to keep valuables out of vehicles or secured and out of sight.
