PD: Landscaper Tracks Down Thieves in New Canaan

A landscaper and his crew helped police track down a suspected pair of thieves.

A landscaper and his crew helped track down a pair of suspected thieves who allegedly took his $1,800 leaf blower.

The landscaper went to police Nov. 3 to report the theft of the leaf blower, which occurred around 1 p.m. while a landscaping crew was working on Putnam Road. His crew mentioned that there was a suspicious grey Jeep Cherokee going in and out of several driveways on the street.

On Nov. 4 the landscaper called police to tell them that he was following the suspected vehicle on Smith Ridge Road. Police responded and stopped the vehicle.

One of the occupants allegedly admitted to the crime. New Rochelle men John Barbosa, 31, and Eliodoro Lopez, 36, were arrested and charged with fifth-degree larceny.
