PD: New Canaan Woman Evades Accident Scene

A woman allegedly hit a utility pole and fled the scene.

A New Canaan woman was arrested after she allegedly hit a utility pole and fled the scene.
Police were called to the area of Brushy Ridge Road and Lone Tree Farm Road after Eversource employees went to reset a power breaker around 4 a.m. Nov. 26.
They found a pole was damaged and followed a fluid trail to Lone Tree Farm Road. The vehicle had damage consistent with a pole strike.
Upon further investigation police arrested Katherine Powers, 22, for evading responsibility and failure to drive in an established lane. She had left her car and got a ride home after the accident, police said.

Minor alcohol/marijuana infraction.

An 18-year-old New Canaan resident was issued an infraction after she was allegedly found in possession of marijuana and alcohol in a vehicle.
Police were dispatched to White Falls Lane near Squires Lane on a report of a roaming dog Nov. 26 around 10:30 a.m.
An officer stopped a vehicle that was passing by to ask if the occupants knew who the dog belonged to, police said. The officer smelled marijuana in the vehicle.
A small amount of marijuana was found in the vehicle along with a 1.75 liter bottle of Bacardi rum and 10 12-ounce cans of Mike’s Hard Lemonade.
The 18-year-old was charged with possession of less than half an ounce of marijuana and possession of alcohol by a minor.
