PD: Rhode Island Man Threatened New Canaan Woman With Gun

The man was arrested in both Rhode Island and New Canaan.

A Rhode Island man was arrested after he allegedly held a gun to a woman’s head and threatened to shoot her.

A State Police trooper made contact with a New Canaan woman who was in a motor vehicle accident on Sept. 2. She said she was distressed and had an argument with Keith Duncan, 29, of Providence whom she has an active protective order against, police said.

She said that he previously held a gun to her head and threatened to shoot her in Rhode Island. Duncan also allegedly made threats via text.

He also allegedly threatened to use his gun at Roger Williams University.

New Canaan Police conducted their own investigation and obtained a signed arrest warrant. Duncan was taken into custody by Rhode Island authorities and was arrested and charged with simple assault on Aug. 21, according to Rhode Island court records.

He was transported back to Connecticut on Sept. 17. He was charged with second-degree threatening, criminal violation of a protective order, and second-degree harassment for the alleged text threats made as far back as June.
