Police: New Canaan Resident Received Fake $100 Bill at Tag Sale

A resident on Oenoke Lane reported that he was paid with a fake $100 bill at a tag sale.

The victim reported the incident to police on June 26. He said two women bought clothing and shoes at his tag sale.

A woman in her mid-40’s handed a woman in her mid-20’s the fake bill to pay, police said.

The man was suspicious of the bill afterward and took it to a bank. Officials verified it was a counterfeit bill.
