NEW CANAAN, CT — Police left the Waveny Park area around 2 p.m. following a search near the town's "mulch pile" connected to the Jennifer Farber Dulos disappearance case that began Monday morning, according to authorities.

Investigators, along with police K-9 officers and some construction vehicles, were present at the "mulch pile" located off Lapham Road near the park for over four hours before leaving the area around 2 p.m.

"[Monday's] search in the area of Waveny Park in New Canaan has been completed," State Police said in a statement around 3:30 p.m. "Our office has not been advised of any additional searches at this time."

Carrie Luft, spokesperson for Jennifer's family, thanked law enforcement for their dedication to the case.

"This remains an open investigation with two key individuals still awaiting trial," Luft said in a statement. "We are very grateful to the law enforcement agencies involved in the investigation for their ongoing commitment and efforts to solve this case, and we remain hopeful that Jennifer will be found."

Monday's search is the latest in a string of searches for the 50-year-old Dulos, who vanished from her New Canaan home on May 24, 2019. Her body has not been found, and she is presumed to be dead.

Her estranged husband, the late Fotis Dulos, was arrested and charged with kidnapping and murdering her, but he died after a suicide attempt in January 2020, before he could stand trial. The Duloses were in the midst of a contentious divorce and child custody battle at the time of Jennifer's disappearance.

In addition to Waveny Park, law enforcement has searched other properties in New Canaan, Avon, and Farmington associated with Fotis Dulos's former home building company. And investigators conducted extensive searches in Hartford and a refuse collection site, after the discovery of bloody clothing and other evidence.

Waveny Park was an early focus for investigators, because Jennifer Dulos's SUV was found there the day she disappeared.

Prosecutors believe Fotis Dulos drove the vehicle to the park, with Jennifer's body inside, where he abandoned it when he moved her body.

Fotis Dulos's ex-girlfriend, Michelle Troconis, and a former friend, Kent Mawhinney, are facing charges of conspiracy to commit murder in the case. Both are accused of assisting Fotis in the plot; both have pleaded not guilty.
