NEW CANAAN, CT — Posters promoting an upcoming service in honor of Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. were twice stolen in New Canaan recently, in what organizers are calling an upsetting situation, writes the New Canaan Advertiser.

The Interfaith Council of New Canaan has sponsored the annual service for 18 years, which features a food drive to benefit the New Canaan Food Pantry, and "tributes and testimonies from local clergy, town officials and students."

Yet in recent days, signs promoting the event were removed clandestinely from the New Canaan train station and the corner of Farm Road and South Avenue. The train station sign has been replaced, and includes the words "Removal of this poster is a crime."
