Purchase Of New Police Cars On New Canaan Board Of Selectmen Agenda
The board is scheduled to meet Tuesday morning, July 25.

NEW CANAAN, CT — The purchase of three new police cars - at a total cost of $86,601 - is among the items up for approval Tuesday morning before the New Canaan Board of Selectmen, according to a meeting agenda.
Each car is expected to cost $28,867 and will be purchased from Crowley Ford in Plainville.
Among the other items the board is scheduled to discuss Tuesday morning include a request for more than $160,000 for additional services and work on the Saxe Middle School Project; a request for nearly $200,000 for a new Public Works loader; and a $75,000 request for road paving.

Tuesday's meeting is scheduled for 9 a.m. in the Town Meeting Room in New Canaan Town Hall.

1. Minutes - Approval of the minutes for the regular meeting held on July 11, 2017.
2. Tree Warden - Approval of a request from the Tree Warden to enter into a contract with Almstead Tree & Shrub for $10,480 for tree pruning and removal at various locations.
3. Waveny Cornfield Restoration - Approval of a request from the Department of Public Works to enter into a contract with Cambareri Masonry for $150,000 (plus a $15,000 contingency amount) for a total project of $165,000 for the Waveny Cornfield Restoration project. This project will be funded entirely by the Waveny Conservancy.
4. New Police Cars - Approval of a request from the Police Department to purchase three new police cars under the current state contract from Crowley Ford for $28,867 each.
5. Software Maintenance Agreement - Approval of a request from the Police Department to enter into an agreement with Nexgen Solutions, LLC for $21,000 for annual software maintenance fees.
6. Saxe Middle School Project - Approval of a request from the Saxe Building Committee to amend the contract with JCJ Architecture to add up to $80,000 to the contract, for additional design services.
7. Saxe Middle School Project - Approval of a request from the Saxe Building Committee to amend the contract with Tighe & Bond to add $86,000 (which includes a $14,000 contingency amount) for services associated with abatement oversight and monitoring, project management, and project close-out reporting.
8. Waste Water Treatment Facility Bridge - Approval of a request from the Department of Public Works to enter into a contract with WMC Engineers for the design of the replacement of the superstructure of the Waste Water Treatment Facility Bridge:

9. Rapid Rectangular Flashing Beacons (RRFB) - Approval of a request from the Department of Public Works to purchase four RRFBs from Traffic Systems Incorporated for $16,600 for installation at both Weed Street pedestrian crossings (Elm Street and Wahackme Road).
10. Rapid Rectangular Flashing Beacons (RRFB) - Approval of a request from the Department of Public Works to purchase two RRFBs from Traffic Systems Incorporated for $8,300 for installation at Main Street and Farm Road.
11. Hook-Lift Truck - Approval of a request from the Department of Public Works to purchase from Crowley Ford for $94,695.26 a new Stellar hook-lift truck.
12. Localized Road Repairs - Approval of a request from the Department of Public Works to continue an agreement with New England Paving for $75,000 for localized road repairs.
13. New Loader - Approval of a request from the Department of Public Works to purchase a new loader from W.I. Clark Company for $198,948.81 (less a trade-in allowance of $18,000) for a net cost of $180,948.81. The purchase will be made under the state contract with W.I. Clark.
14. Recycling Receptacles - Approval of a request from the Department of Public Works to purchase 24 new green metal recycling receptacles from Global Industrial for $9,997.
15. Mead Park Colonnade - Approval of a request from the Department of Public Works to enter into contracts to repair the colonnade in Mead Park as follows:

16. Flag Football - Approval of a request from the Recreation Department to purchase NFL Flag Football jerseys from NFL Flag for $10,000.
17. New Employee - Approval of a request from the Director of Human Resources to hire Sean Halloran as Equipment Operator II in the Department of Public Works.
18. Probationary Status - Approval of a request from the Director of Human Resources to remove Nick Chieffalo, Sewer Plant Operator, from probationary status.
19. Employee Assistance Program (EAP) - Approval of a request from the Director of Human Resources to enter into a contract with Behavioral Health Consultants, LLC for $5,829 for the Employee Assistance Program.
20. Tuition Reimbursement - Approval of a request from the Director of Human Resources for a tuition reimbursement of $2,000 for Kayla Hanish, Staff Accountant. She will be taking two courses at the University of Connecticut, Business Law and Taxation of Business Entities, as part of a Masters in Accounting Program. Payment will be made upon successful completion of the course.
21. Appointments - Approval of the appointments of Rose Rothbart and Marty Skrelunas to the Historical Review Committee.
22. Legal Bills - Approval of legal bills.
23. Tax Overpayments - Approval of refunds for tax overpayments.
24. Contracts - Review of contracts $5,000 and under.
