Report: Permanent Location Chosen for New Canaan Post Office

Officials were informed of USPS' decision on Monday.

Locust Avenue has been chosen as the new permanent location for a future New Canaan post office, the New Canaanite reports.

According to the publication, the United States Post Office informed town officials on Monday that 18-26 Locust Avenue had been selected over the other location on Park Street.

The lot at 18 Locust Avenue includes a nearly 2,400-square-foot structure while number 26 includes a 3-story structure with about 3,000 square feet.

First Selectman Rob Mallozzi said Locust Avenue developers have been engaged in serious negotiations with USPS and expect to come before the Planning and Zoning Commission in the coming months, the New Canaanite reports.

The post office has been operating out of 90 Main Street since its lease at Park and Pine expired.
