Seven Motorists Fined for Passing a Stopped School Bus

All of the violations occurred on Old Stamford Road.

Seven motorists have been fined $460 for passing a stopped school bus on Old Stamford Road, bringing the total of for this calendar year. The recent incidents took place between April 16 and May 9, and involved motorists from Darien, Danbury, Stamford, Wilton and New Canaan. 

In each of these incidents, the school bus driver reported the violation and police conducted an investigation.

Alfredo Correa, 73, of Stamford, CT was fined for passing a stopped school bus on Old Stamford Road near Talmadge Hill Road. The incident took place on April 16.

Lajde Nikolla, 39, of New Canaan, was fined for passing a stopped school bus near 626 Old Stamford Road, near Talmadge Hill Road. The incident took place on April 28.  

Maria Shepard,
59, of Wilton, CT was fined for passing a stopped school bus on May 2. The violation occurred near 626 Old Stamford Road.

Michael Bopp, 39 of New Canaan, was fined for passing a stopped school bus near 594 Old Stamford Road on May 2.

Leon Byan,
41, of Danbury, CT was fined for passing a stopped school bus near 626 Old Stamford Road on May 5. 

Lisa Alpaugh,
42, of Darien, CT
was fined for passing a stopped school bus on May 5. The violation occurred near 626 Old Stamford Road.

Jean A. Scheidl, 71, of New Canaan, received a fine of $460 for passing a stopped school bus near 626 Old Stamford Road. The violation occurred on May 9.

 In an e-mail to Patch, Capt. Leon Krolikowski said the New Canaan Police Department is committed to ensuring the safe transport of children to and from school.
 

“The New Canaan Police Department has zero tolerance for these violations,” Krolikowski said.
