St. Luke's Athletes Selected For All-Star Games

14 St. Luke's athletes were selected to play in the various All-Star Games

St. Luke's School was well represented in the various NEPSAC All-Star games on Sunday, November 12 and Sunday November 19.

Storm athletes were selected to play in Boys and Girls Soccer as well as Volleyball and Field Hockey with a total of 14 students representing the school in the annual matches.

Volleyball had five players selected with seniors Maria Minuesa, Bridget Dalton, Emma Castiglione, Courteney Newman and Alison Ferris all competing in the New England Conference game. The event at Hamden Hall included over 60 participants and Newman was proud to have been a part of it: “It was my first time playing in the game so I didn’t know what to expect but it was really fun. Although the five of us went up we were all on different teams so it was great to play against my teammates too.”

Boys Soccer was represented in the Class C and D game at Loomis Chaffe School by Ryan Neafsey ‘18 and Chase Zamit ‘18. In a very entertaining match the St. Luke’s duo were, unfortunately, on the wrong side of a 3-0 final score. Neafsey, playing in his second consecutive All-Star game said: “It was a lot of fun to be playing with guys who are so talented. It was great to have Chase in front of me as he has been all season and it was a great honor to be selected again.”

In Girls Soccer, Thaise Sudano ‘18, Elizabeth Laub ‘18 and Lea Panagiotidis ‘20 were given the honor to compete in the Class C and D game at The Ethel Walker School after impressive seasons. Laub and Panagiotidis were unable to play due to injury concerns but Sudano was thrilled with the experience: “It was extremely fun and it was great to play with so many talented girls from other teams we had played against. I thought it was a cool way to cap off my three years on GVS.”

Sydney Napolitano '19 and India Otero '19 were also selected to play in the Junior All-Star Game at Loomis Chaffe School on Sunday, November 19.

In Field Hockey, juniors Emma Cropper and Kendall Boege represented St. Luke’s for the Class C/D game which took place at Suffield Academy. The Storm duo helped their team record a 3-0 win with Cropper making 10 saves in the shutout. It was the first time the St. Luke’s goalkeeper had played in the All-Star game and she was overjoyed with the experience: “I thought the game was very good and I really enjoyed playing with people from all the different schools. It took our team a while to get used to each other but, once we got into it, it was a lot of fun.”
