St. Luke’s Field Hockey Teams Come Together to ‘Play4theCure’

All three St. Luke’s Field Hockey Teams will dedicate games this month to “Play4theCure”, a fundraiser sponsored by the National Foundation for Cancer Research and supported by teams of all sports across the country. Yesterday, the two Storm Middle School teams came together to participate in a clinic lead by the Varsity Team.

Head varsity coach Taylor Hedges was extremely pleased with this first clinic:

“Yesterday was a great opportunity to unite the field hockey program. More importantly, we are one St. Luke’s field hockey program, not three separate teams. Our clinic gave us the opportunity to come together as a field hockey community and play the sport that we all love. Not only did we practice field hockey skills, but we made connections and relationships that will hopefully inspire younger athletes to stay involved in the sport and explore all it has to offer.”

Many of the girls wore pink during the clinic in support of Play4theCure.

The Varsity Team will “Play4theCure” during St. Luke’s Homecoming on Saturday October 19 at 1:30 pm vs. Cheshire Academy. The 7/8 team will have their game on Thursday October 17 against Western MS at 3:45 pm and the 5/6 team will play NCCS on Monday October 21 at 3:30 pm. The teams will also be selling pink bracelets for $2 to raise money for the cause.
