In spite of losing two players to injury just prior to the tournament, St. Luke’s Varsity Girls Squash team went above and beyond expectations by fighting their way to the finals of Division IV at the 2014 U.S. High School Team Squash National Championships. The competition took place in Philadelphia, PA earlier this month. Their second place finish was hard-won and admirable, pushing their winning streak to 8 matches in a row—a formidable accomplishment for a team with the majority of players competing in Nationals for the first time.
Elated by the team results, Head Coach Renee Judd shared, “So proud of the girls for their amazing showing playing teams from Pennsylvania, NY, CT and Maryland. In spite of significant injuries, we played our best squash! The girls really gave it their all and totally rose to the occasion. They gave 100% and it showed!” Parents and fans were amazed at the way this team played with determination, skill and gracious sportsmanship.
