St. Luke's Lunch & Lead Series with Showmotion Founder

St. Luke's Center for Leadership’s Lunch & Lead series recently welcomed Bill Mensching, President and Founder of Showmotion Incorporated—a contracting company specializing in Broadway scenery, restaurants and other large venues such as amusement park attractions. Many students and faculty filled the room as Mensching told stories about his own journey and different projects he has worked on throughout the years. He said, “it’s hard but rewarding work and I love what I do. Although I couldn’t have accomplished what I have done without 100 other people helping in the process.” He discussed how his industry has evolved in areas such as lighting, technology, and special effects.

As a St. Luke's alumni parent, Mensching shared how how his son Max '07 first found his passion for architecture at St. Luke's and credited the school faculty members Jim Yavenditti and Dale Griffa, as being instrumental in that process. Mensching also reflected on St. Luke’s overall saying, “What’s going on here at St. Luke’s is mind-blowing. You’re in a great place.”

The school's Center for Leadership Lunch & Lead series gives Upper School students exposure and access to accomplished leaders from varied disciplines—entrepreneurs, financial wizards, artists, comedians, technologists, journalists, politicians and scientists. Student leaders organize these campus visits where career paths, successes and failures are shared. A Q&A session concludes each talk.
