St. Luke's Senior Qualifies For Debate World Championship
St. Luke's Debate Team brings home 2 first place and one second in advanced division during Sunday's DANEIS tournament.
St. Luke’s Debate Team Co-Captain Bilal Memon ‘18 won first place prize for individual speaker in the advanced division during the DANEIS tournament on November 5. This win qualifies Bilal for the World Individual Debating and Public Speaking Championship in South Africa this spring. Along with his co-captain and New Canaan resident, Chloe Kekedjian '18, they won first place as a team. Chloe was awarded second place for individual speaker.
St. Luke’s Debate Team members who participated in Sunday’s tournament included Lily Tencic '20, Amelie Warneryd '20, Ruth Mercedes '20 and Laura Mercedes '20 who competed in the novice division. Andres Falcon '19, Hunter Conetta '19, Chloe Kekedjian '18 and Bilal Memon '18 competed in the advanced division. The tournament consisted of three rounds of parliamentary debate.
