St. Luke's Sonnets & Sweets

New Canaan resident & St. Luke's teacher continues the tradition of celebrating Shakespeare's sonnets with homemade sweets.

St. Luke's Upper School English teacher and New Canaan resident Susan Doran hosted the 20th Annual Sonnets & Sweets event for her Honors Shakespeare seminar students. The seniors in the class each memorized and performed a sonnet in front of the fireplace at Doran's home. The recitations were followed by a feast of sweet treats such as Ophelia's Pure White Chocolate Cheesecake and Iago's Malevolent Mocha Tart. Senior Kristen Beaumonte said, "I began my literary study in Mrs. Doran's English class interpreting Sonnet 18, and it is fitting that I'm ending my journey reciting the same sonnet. It will forever live with me.
