The victim discovered the man had fraudulently set up an account in the victim's name.

NEW CANAAN, CT — A 26-year-old Cliffside Park, NJ man was arrested by New Canaan police last week in connection with an identity theft scam in which he allegedly to buy three iPhones using an AT&T Wireless account fraudulently opened in the name of a New Canaan resident, according to police.
On March 14, the victim, a Fieldcrest Road resident, notified New Canaan police that someone had fraudulently bought three iPhones, worth a total of $3,000, in their name.
The iPhones were scheduled to be delivered to the home on March 15, so the department had officers patrol the area to see who would attempt to pick up the package. At about 10:45 a.m., officers spotted a vehicle with expired New Jersey plates in the area and pulled it over.
