The vehicle was stolen from a home on South Avenue.

NEW CANAAN, CT — Two suspects, both from Norwalk, have been arrested in connection with a stolen Mercedes-Benz SUV from a home on South Avenue in New Canaan, according to police, who recovered the vehicle in Milford.

The SUV, valued at about $40,000, had been left parked in the driveway, unlocked and with the keys inside when it was stolen during the overnight hours of June 11, according to police.

On June 13, New Canaan police were contacted by Milford police that officers had found the vehicle in the parking lot of a Motel 6 in Milford, just off I-95. Inside the vehicle were items that had been reported stolen from unlocked vehicles in Norwalk, said New Canaan police.

"Video surveillance from the hotel parking lot, and statements made by fellow officers at the Milford PD, resulted in the discovery of 2 suspects responsible for the theft of the Mercedes-Benz from New Canaan," wrote police in a statement.

New Canaan officers found and arrested Kristian Medel, 19, of Van Zant Street, at the motel that same day, charging him with first-degree larceny and conspiracy. He was held in lieu of a $50,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
