Untimely Death Investigated In New Canaan: Police

The death occurred on June 26, but information about it was not released until Wednesday afternoon.

NEW CANAAN, CT — An untimely death that occurred in a home on Old Stamford Road in New Canaan Tuesday morning, June 26, is under investigation by local authorities.

New Canaan police officers were called to the home at about 9:30 a.m. to perform a welfare check on an occupant. The identity of the individual, in addition to the specific address on Old Stamford Road, has not been disclosed by police.

"Upon making entry into the home officers located the individual and summoned [New Canaan Volunteer Ambulance Corps] to respond to attempt to provide aid to the individual," wrote New Canaan police in a statement. "The attempts to revive the individual were not successful and the individual was pronounced [deceased] by a medic from Norwalk Hospital."

While the exact nature and circumstances of the investigation were not disclosed, New Canaan police stressed that "the incident is isolated and no issue of public safety exists."

"At this time no further information regarding the incident or the identity of the deceased will be released."
