NEW CANAAN, CT — A 2022 Nissan Rogue and items such as credit cards and golf clubs were recently reported stolen in New Canaan.
In a news release, Chief of Police Leon Krolikowski said officers were called to the area of Farity and Orchard drives Thursday around 1 p.m. after receiving a report of suspicious activity.
According to Krolikowski, a Fairy Drive resident told police three people in hooded sweatshirts were seen walking around the neighborhood trying to enter vehicles.

An Orchard Drive resident later showed officers video of a suspect opening an unlocked vehicle, Krolikowski said.
Later that evening around 6 p.m., someone performing work on a Rosebrook Road home reported items stolen from a vehicle parked in the area. After leaving the vehicle around 11 a.m., the worker returned around 2:30 p.m. and noticed it had been rummaged through, Krolikowski said.
Credit cards inside a wallet left in the vehicle were reported missing and later used fraudulently in Waterbury, Krolikowski said. A driver's license and a check for payment from a customer were also stolen from the wallet.
On Saturday, a West Road resident reported a set of golf clubs stolen from their garage. According to Krolikowski, the resident left the garage door open the night before while out to dinner.
On Monday, a 2022 Nissan Rogue was reported stolen from Locust Avenue. The vehicle was found the following day in Ansonia without any damage and the key fob inside, Krolikowski said.
Police were also called to a Lakeview Avenue construction site Monday to investigate the theft of some tools, Krolikowski said.
"Please remember to always lock your vehicles and take the keys with you," Krolikowski said in a news release. "Secure valuables: never leave valuables in your vehicle. Often, identity theft occurs when drivers' licenses and credit cards are stolen."
