Vehicles Stolen, Entered In New Canaan: Police
The owner of the stolen vehicle told police the car was locked and the key fob was inside their home.
NEW CANAAN, CT — A 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee was reported stolen from the driveway of a Richmond Hill Road home Wednesday, according to police.
In a news release, Chief of Police Leon Krolikowski said the jeep was last seen parked at the home Wednesday around 12:30 a.m. The owner told police the vehicle was locked and the key fob was inside the home at the time of the theft.
That same day, police received a report of an unlocked vehicle on Marshall Ridge Road having been entered. A set of Apple Airpods and a phone charger were reported stolen from the vehicle, Krolikowski said.

Additionally, police received reports of unlocked vehicles being entered and rummaged through on Richmond Hill Road and Southwood Drive, however nothing of value was taken in either instance, Krolikowski said.
According to Krolikowski, New Canaan police have investigated reports of 36 stolen vehicles and 42 vehicles entered in 2021 thus far.

"Please remember to always lock your vehicles and take the keys with you," Krolikowski said in a news release. "Secure valuables and never leave valuables in your vehicle. Often, identity theft occurs when drivers' licenses and credit cards are stolen."
