Want New Canaan's $1.5M for Schools Restored? Ask a State Legislator: Ed Chair

New Canaan and several other affluent communities in Connecticut are facing the possible elimination of their state education funding.

NEW CANAAN, CT - Connecticut Gov. Dannel Malloy is proposing to cut all of New Canaan's $1.49 million in school funding next year, so local Board of Ed Chair Dionna Carlson is telling residents to fight back.

Carlson is urging parents to contact members of the state General Assembly's Education Committee to ask that they restore New Canaan's funding, reports the New Canaan Advertiser.

Among the talking points Carlson suggests residents use when they contact legislators is the fact that New Canaan receives less than $0.01 back for every $1.00 the town contributes in taxes, despite New Canaan being the one of the state's highest tax contributors.
