You Still Don't Like Malloy, Connecticut

For Connecticut's embattled governor, the state's just not that into you, according to the latest survey by Morning Consult.

Despite telling voters that he's not seeking another term, Connecticut Gov. Dannel Malloy remains the nation's third most unpopular governor, according to the latest survey by Morning Consult.

In April, Malloy trailed New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, the nation's least popular governor, and Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback, the second least popular, and Malloy's numbers are mostly remained unchanged. Only 29 percent of Connecticut voters approve of his job performance, while 64 percent disapprove.

Connecticut's deep fiscal problems, and some high-profile corporate defections from the state, have been an albatross around Malloy's neck, clearly driving his unpopularity.

Despite Christie's and Brownback's low approval ratings (69 percent and 66 percent disapproval, respectively), Republican governors, especially those in otherwise Blue States remain very popular, according to Morning Consult.

Massachusetts Republican Gov. Charlie Baker, almost taunting Malloy because of the state's proximity to Connecticut, remains the nation's most popular governor, with a 71 percent approval rating. Only a measly 17 percent of the state's voters disapprove of Baker's job performance.
