Young Braves Drops Second Game
The summer league team tallies a loss after tying the game to end the first half.
Monday night the Chicken Joe's Young Braves and Super Star Lacrosse were tied 3-3 at the half; but Super Star took control of the Sound Shore Lacrosse League game in the second half to win 7-4.
Ward Gruppo (Fairfield Prep/Dickinson) opened up scoring for Chicken Joe's with a strong sweep early in the first half. Jason Foreit (Norwalk/Bucknell) cleared the ball and went coast-to-coast feeding the ball to Chase Bailey (Fairfield Prep/Bucknell) for the second goal for Chicken Joe's.
Tyler Foley (Darien/Loyola) had a great dodge late in the first half for an unassisted goal to tie the game at three heading into halftime.

Freddie Schweizer (Darien/F&M) created a nice fast-break early in the second half, but his shot hit the post. The only second half goal for Chicken Joe's would come from Christian Beitel (Newtown/Dickinson) off of an assist from Jared Horowitz (Greenwich/Penn).
"We were without our main face-off guy, but Chris Rinaldi (Berkshire/Lehigh) stepped up and kept us in the game," Coach Steve Schmitz (New Canaan/Lehigh) said. "Our offense is still gelling. We generated opportunities, but couldn't finish. It's going to be great to win."

Kyle Feeney (Greenwich/Bucknell) had another strong performance for Chicken Joe's registering 10 saves.
In addition to Foreit and Schweizer on defense, Corey Caputo (Darien/Hofstra) had a strong game as did Jack Ambrose (Staples/Yale).
"Our defense was impressive in all areas. Jason Foreit from Bucknell and Jack Ambrose, fresh out of Staples High School, were both outstanding," Schmitz said.
Chicken Joe's Young Braves take on defending Sound Shore Champions No Limit Wednesday, June 30, at 8 p.m. at SUNY Purchase.
