A 17-Year-Old New Haven Boy Shot, Killed Sunday Night: PD

At 9 p.m., cops were called to Orchard Place for a "person shot." The teen died at the hospital as a result of gunshot injuries, police say.

NEW HAVEN, CT — A 17-year-old New Haven boy was shot and killed Sunday night, police said.

Just before 9 p.m., police got a call about a "person shot" on Orchard Place between Orchard and Charles streets, police spokesperson Scott Shumway said.

The teen, struck by gunfire, was taken to Yale New Haven Hospital where, Shumway said, "he succumbed to his injuries."

The New Haven Police Department Bureau of Identification responded and collected ballistic evidence. Detectives from the Major Crimes Unit are leading the investigation.
