2 Charged In Fatal Street Racing Crash: New Haven Police
Two people have been charged in a drag racing accident that left one person dead and several others injured, according to police.

NEW HAVEN, CT — Two people have been arrested in connection with a fatal drag racing accident last year in New Haven, according to police. Police responded at 2:18 a.m. on Oct. 30, 2022, to a report of a serious accident with major injuries at 200 Sargent Drive.
Police arrived and found that five vehicles were involved in a major crash.
David Takdharie, the driver of a BMW M340X1, Emily Murphy, the driver of a Subaru Impreza STI, and Carlos Gonzalez, the driver of a Honda Civic, were street racing on Sargent Drive.

The passenger side of Takdharie's BMW made contact with Murphy's Subaru. Then the Subaru crashed into the driver's side of Gonzalez's Civic.
The Civic crossed the double yellow line and struck another vehicle head on traveling southbound on the other side of the street.

Seven people were transported to the hospital for treatment. Gonzalez, 30, died due to his injuries.
Following a lengthy investigation, police secured arrest warrants for Murphy and Takdharie.
Murphy, 21, was charged Nov. 2 with first-degree manslaughter, first-degree assault, reckless driving, and racing.
Takdharie, 24, was charged Nov. 6 with second-degree manslaughter with a motor vehicle, first-degree manslaughter, second-degree assault, second-degree assault with a motor vehicle, first-degree assault, reckless driving, operating under the influence, and racing.
