3 Shot Sunday With 1 In Critical Condition, Police Investigating
Each of the three gunshot victims "walked into" Yale New Haven Hospital campuses, on York and on Chapel streets.

NEW HAVEN, CT —Police are investigating three Sunday shootings.
The first was at around 4:30 in the morning when cops got a report of a walk-in gunshot victim, a teenager, at Yale New Haven Hospital's York Street campus, according to police spokesperson Sgt. Cherelle D. Carr. Carr said police were told by hospital staff that the victim, who was shot in the abdomen, was in stable condition with non-life- threatening injuries. When interviewed by police, the victim said he was shot in the area of Printers Lane and then walked to the hospital, Carr said.
"Unfortunately, the victim couldn’t provide details about the suspect responsible for the incident," police said. But after a canvass of the area, officers found a crime scene where multiple fired cartridge casings were located in the area of Printers Lane and Ella T. Grasso Boulevard, the spokesperson said. ShotSpotter was activated for gunshots in that area, she added.

Like all shootings in the city, detectives from the Major Crimes Unit are investigating.
A little more than 12 hours later, just after 5 p.m., another gunshot victim "walked into" the hospital, this time at the Yale New Haven Hospital Saint Raphael campus, Carr said. A male victim, he said he was "standing at the intersection of Orchard Street at Edgewood Avenue when he was shot by an occupant of a vehicle," according to Sgt. Carr. Suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the abdomen and the arm, he was taken to the hospital's main campus to undergo surgery and is in critical condition, Carr said.

A half hour later, another gunshot victim walked into the York Street campus of the hospital suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the hand, Carr said. This victim said he was walking in the 400-block of Orchard Street when he was shot, police said. Not unlike the previous victims, cops said he "couldn’t give further information on the person responsible for the shooting."
Carr said investigators have gathered evidence, interviewed witnesses, and searched for surveillance footage, as well as canvassing Orchard Street from Chapel Street to Whalley Avenue. There was no ShotSpotter activation and no ballistic evidence was found on scene, she said.
Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed any of these shootings or who may have information "valuable to investigators" to call detectives at 203-946-6304 or through the department’s anonymous tip-line at 866- 888-TIPS (8477).
