After 3 Bishop School students were hospitalized after eating edibles, a Hillhouse student who ate an edible was also taken to the hospital.

The female Hillhouse High School student "acknowledged having consumed an 'edible' substance," schools spokesperson Justin Harmon, and she began behaving "erratically" during an unrelated lockdown.

NEW HAVEN, CT — A fourth New Haven Public Schools student was taken to the hospital after having consumed an "edible," and then began acting "erratically," schools spokesperson Justin Harmon said.

Hillhouse High School was placed on lockdown Wednesday afternoon, Harmon said, for "police activity in the neighborhood." The lockdown was later lifted and "all are safe," he said. But during the lockdown, Harmon said, "it became apparent that a student was behaving erratically."

The female student "acknowledged having consumed an 'edible' substance," Harmon said. She was taken to the hospital as a precaution, Harmon noted.

Earlier Wednesday, three eighth-grade Bishop Woods School students ate what "appeared to be candy one of them had brought into school," Harmon said. It turned out that the student who brought the substance to school said it was an “edible,” and that student "experienced slurred speech and vomited," Harmon said.

All three students were transported to the hospital as a precaution and police are "investigating what may have been in the candy," according to Harmon.
