FAIRFIELD, CT — Fairfield police have arrested the fourth and final suspect believed to have been involved in an armed robbery and home invasion on Candlewood Road in Fairfield in February.
Leon Jackson, 33, of New Haven, was identified as a person of interest on Feb. 19, the day of the incident, according to police.
Detectives with the Fairfield Police Major Crimes Unit continued investigating in the following days and weeks and developed evidence linking Jackson to the crime, police said. Police subsequently obtained a warrant for his arrest.
Detectives determined Jackson had traveled several hundred miles from Connecticut and located him in Alabama, where he was taken into custody, according to police.
As mentioned above, Jackson is the fourth and final person believed to have been involved in the alleged crime.
On Thursday, Jackson was transported back to Connecticut to face charges of home invasion, first-degree robbery, second-degree larceny, five counts of first-degree unlawful restraint and two counts of risk of injury to a minor.
He is being held in lieu of bail of $1 million.
Fairfield police thanked the U.S. Marshals Service for assisting in locating and apprehending Jackson.
"The investigation reflects the continued persistence of Fairfield Police Detectives in following evidence across state lines and ensuring that those responsible for serious crimes committed in Fairfield are held accountable," Fairfield Police Sgt. Jenna Wellington said in a statement.
