After August Storm Shuttered Lighthouse Point Park, Repairs, Restoration Complete, Park Reopens Friday (patch.com) — New Haven residents will once again have access to Lighthouse Point Park after extensive repairs from the fierce August 13 storm that toppled 95 trees and damaged the historic carousel building. City crews have secured structures, cleared debris, and even helped people relocate planned celebrations, allowing the shoreline park to safely reopen Friday at 7 a.m.
   

2. Assistant principal accused of sexually assaulting student twice in school office (local12.com) — New Haven parents should know that an assistant principal at James Hillhouse High School has been charged with multiple counts of sexual assault involving a student and has been placed on leave. Police say the student's account was supported by video and witness evidence, and district officials report he no longer has access to the building or students while the case proceeds.

Hillhouse boys basketball coach Renard Sutton resigns, won three CIAC, SCC championships (nhregister.com) — Hillhouse High School's longtime boys basketball coach, New Haven native Renard Sutton, has resigned after 16 seasons and three state titles to join his son at Livingstone College in North Carolina. His eldest son, Andre, will serve as interim coach, with several former Hillhouse standouts joining the staff as New Haven's storied program prepares for a leadership transition.
   

4. Mills Family Reconnects (newhavenindependent.org) — Dozens of Mills family descendants gathered in a Newhallville backyard and at St. Matthew's UFWB Church to celebrate their roots and contributions to New Haven. The Connecticut chapter's annual reunion honors ancestors from North Carolina while spotlighting how present-day family members serve the city as educators, workers, and community leaders across New Haven.
